Mission Summary for Dec 08, 2003
|
Today's flight mission was a coordinated night time ER-2 and Citation flight
to the SE. This flight was in conjunction with a satellite overpass and began
with a takeoff from Bangor at 2154Z. The first sonde was dropped at 2229Z at
a point (N43.6 degrees, W65.4 degrees) from approximately 30,000 ft.
Subsequent sondes were released from 28,000 ft and were released at 60
to 90 n mi intervals down to (N37.9 degrees, W63.7 degrees), dropping a
sonde at that point at 2340Z. This was the 6th sonde in the series. From
this southernmost point, the track was reversed and sondes were released
along the same track going northward, the last sonde being released at
(N41.4 degrees, 65.9 degrees) at 0040Z. The total number of sondes
released during the mission was 10. The aircraft then returned to Bangor
and landed at 0145.
