Mission Summary for Dec 03, 2003

Today was an Aqua underflight mission. The ER-2 flew due east out of BGR to the sub-satellite track, followed it northbound from ~45-55 deg N, then back to BGR (making a triangle). Citation flew from St. Johns down the Aqua track dropping sondes; due to weather closing their origination airport and not enough fuel to make Halifax (their planned alternate), they landed at Gander. The ER-2 pilot reported a mixture of scene conditions, from clear to total undercast conditions. No instrument fail lights were reported. Three brief episodes of turbulence were encountered, i.e. 1504, 1511, and 1754 GMT (for future reference, note the last time period had the most).
